Posted: Tuesday July 16, 2013
By Franca Egbule

A-19-year old teenager, City Stanley from Owa-Alero, Agbor, Delta State has been declared missing.
City Stanley

The whereabouts of the missing young chap Ika weekly gathered had remained a mystery. He was said to have flee out his community because he was depressed and deprived of justice.
A closed family source disclosed that City Stanley on the 10th of July, 2013 while driving home on a car from the market and on a rainy day along the New Lagos/Asaba Road, Agbor hit a  20-year-old girl named, Joy and killed her on the spot. Our source said because the deceased was the only daughter of her parent, Mr. and Mrs. Tony Oshadi, the matter got out of hands following the demand that he (City Stanley) have to marry Joy and fulfill all rituals demanded before her remains could be laid to rest.
Late Joy

Among the unholy demand for late Joy’s burial rituals by her family was that City Stanley had to sleep with her corpse and drink the water used to wash her dead body for seven days. The demand according to our source was what forced City Stanley to flee out of his community, even as late Joy’s family has rejected the plea and compensation over the loss.
Meanwhile, many people who heard the matter  described the Oshadi’s family demand over the death of their daughter as barbaric and wickedness of the highest order, wondering where such tradition and culture could have originated from.
All efforts made by our reporter to speak with late Joy’s father, Mr. Tony Oshadi were fruitless as he was said to have declined interview.

Reacting to the recent crises, the executive governor of the state, Dr Emmanuel Uduaghan said that the situation was under control as security agents who were deployed to the community have been directed to ensure the safety of lives and properties. The governor advised that while the crises last people should stay away from the community to avoid being killed by any of the warring groups.
It was gathered that prominent youth leaders in the community, Mike Okonta, Uche Ijebor, Miracle Osemeha, Francis Ikem and Richard Peace have fled from the community and they could not be found for interview. The shocking part of the crises was that the police  working with the orders of King Uche Irenuma 11, dispersed and prevented students in secondary schools in the community from learning .The students were tear gas and a few of them who put up resistance were beaten up and arrested by the police. It was gathered that King Uche Irenuma turned against the students because he felt they were used as tools to fight him. This as a result our reporters were told the closure of secondary schools in Abavo and the running away of the students from Abavo. The most affected were in indigenes of Abavo who were murdered during the crises  and their properties, including cars burnt.
