The
Nigeria Police Force, Anambra State Command has declared one 18 year
old Aigbalu Ehis from Benin-City, Edo State, Nigeria wanted for
homosexual offence which led to the killing of a teenager and gay
partner, Obinna Ani who got beaten and burnt alive by angry mob in the
area at New Market Road Onitsha Anambra State, on January 8, 2017.

According
to an eyewitness, Aigbalu Ehis boyfriend (Obinna Ani) had issues with
the caretaker of his rented apartment over additional rent charge, which
led to the incident .

The
Anambra State Police Public Relations Officer, Donald N. Awunah , who
briefed journalists on the issue, said homosexual practice is a serious
crime in Nigeria. The Federal Same-Sex Marriage (Prohibition) Act of
2014 says anyone found guilty of homosexuality faces up to 14 years in
prison.
Also,the Sharia
law, which is practiced in twelve northern states in the country imposes
a penalty of death by stoning for any gay act .
The
police promised that an handsome reward awaits anyone with useful
information that would lead to the arrest of Aigbalu Ehis.
In
the massive raid that was carried out,some suspected Gays in the area
were apprehended, assuring that the division will leave no stone
unturned in fishing out Aigbalu Ehis.
He
appealed to members of the public who have information about Aigbalu
Ehis's whereabouts to inform the command or the nearest police station.
