The quiet and peaceful town of Agbor, headquarters of Ika South Local Government Area,Delta State has been on the news recently, following a serious clash among political leaders in the area over supremacy battle as the 2015 general elections approach. The development unfortunately, has turned the area into a war zone as not less than two persons have dropped dead with many seriously injured. The sad incident started in the first week of March,2015
The victims,a husband and wife both from the popular Edike family at the Orogodo area of Agbor, our reporters reliably gathered were in their home the day the unexpected happened.
One of the children of the deceased,Jacob Edike,a vibrant youth leader in the area was said to be the target of the blood thirsty politicians. He narrowly escaped from the thugs sent to attack him.Unfortunately, his parents were not lucky as they were trapped and killed.
Jacob Edike according to report from the area refused to play along with the politicians whose stock in trade is to win elections at all cost. The situation which was almost the same in each election year was described as a bad omen  as the number of injured persons were more than ten as two were sent to early grave. Many residential buildings and other valuables were lost during the period. When our reporters visited the area nearly all the residents have ran for their lives.
When contacted, the Police Public Relations Officer in charge of the State Celestina Kalu confirmed the report, assuring that the perpetrators must be brought to book
Efforts to reach Jacob Edike to hear from his own side of the story was not successful as he has said to have disappeared out of the town to avoid being killed by the angry politicians.A source close to the family in confidence told our reporters that Jacob Edike has left town but relocated his family to Asaba. Most of the residents who spoke completley condemned the act, calling on security agencies to make all those behind the dastardly act face the wrath of the law.One of the political leaders who spoke briefly to newsmen   disclosed that Jacob Edike was their target and that they will not stop chasing after him until he mobilizes youths in the area to cast their votes for their choice candidates who according to him has the interest of the town at heart.

A 27-year-old man and an indigene of Igbodo community in Ika North-East Local Government Area of Delta State, Mr. Nnaji Benson has been declared wanted by the Nigeria Security Agency.
This was followed by the death of one Mr. Dede, a native of Onitcta-Ugbo community who was allegedly murdered in cold blood by some yet to be identified hoodlums on his way from the farm on the 19th, November 2015. It was learnt that late Mr. Dede shared the same farm  boundary with that of Benson and his family.

Newsmen confirmed that Mr. Dede and his Wife were returning from the farm along Onitcha-Ugbo/Uromi Expressway when the unknown gunmen attacked him and murdered him. According to Dede's wife who spoke on a condition of anonymity, lamented that she and her husband were returning from the farm on the said date, when the assassins attacked them and shot her husband. HOUSE OF REP. TUSSLE: OJUGO STEPS DOWN, DECLARES SUPPORT FOR NWOKOLO – Ika Weekly

Hon. Victor Nwokolo

A foremost contender for the Federal House of Representative seat from Abavo, Ika South Local Government Area, Mr. Raymond Olusola Ojugo has during the week, dropped out of the race for the incumbent, Hon. Barr. Victor Nwokolo.
Making his decision known during a meeting with Hon. Nwokolo and a delegation from Abavo, including his father, Ojugo  indicated that he arrived at the decision after careful considerations and consultations with the masses that he said were the reason for his aspiration.
In Ojugo words, “the moment I made up my mind to join the race, people kept telling me I would win, but when you see that you cannot make it, it is always a wise choice to make a u turn and follow the right path, because I want to remain in PDP.
I do not want to move from one party to the other. I know the future is clear for me politically, owing to the fact that I have age and timing on my side so I decided to allow the older ones run the race because after now, it will be time for us the youths.
I do not want to have rancor with political leaders at this youthful age. Politics in Agbor is a family affair, and it is important to be in the good books of the family. I spoke with my elders, and at the end it is not an easy decision to reach after much consultation. I decided to run for the people, but since the people have accepted and chosen the way to go, I will toe that line. If your aspiration is not for the people, it becomes a selfish interest, so after careful thoughts, I have decided to step aside and allow you to conclude your tenure as an incumbent. I came here with my elders and ward leaders so they can be first hand witnesses.
Today, all those working for me and I have agreed that we will work for your success, anything that concerns your aspiration is where we will channel our efforts to make sure you succeed, because at the end, if you succeed, then everyone has succeeded.
Ika belongs to us all, I also appeal to you to double your efforts when you go back because, there are people who went for their third, but after their third term, they were weakened politically but we don’t want that to happen to you, so you will learn from their mistakes, and put in 100% now if what you were putting in was 70% so that people will look back and remember that you made a difference during your third tenure in office”, he advised.
Speaking in their separate remarks, leaders who accompanied Mr. Ojugo, expressing happiness at his decision, appreciated him for his decision, stating that he has followed the path of honour. They expressed hope that it would be the turn of Abavo people after his tenure, even as they prayed and expressed optimism that Hon. Nwokolo would do more during his third term.
In his response, Hon. Nwokolo opined that Abavo people have opened a new chapter in Ika politics pointing out that he has reaffirmed his trust and confidence in Abavo people. He appreciated Mr. Ojugu for his maturity in reaching his decision, describing him as a good man with a good name worth more than money.
He explained that as a Christian who has the fear of God and respect for his fellow man, he will not fail God; neither will he fail Ika people. He assured the delegation that he will put in more efforts during his third term, saying that he cannot do it on his own.

OKOWA URGES CHRISTIANS TO BE BOLD IN TACKLING NIGERIA’S CHALLENGES IN DELTA STATE

Governor Senator Dr. Ifeanyi Okowa has challenged Christians to boldly challenge the problems bedeviling Nigeria as a nation. The Governor made the call at the national convention of Evangelical Fellowship in the Anglican Communion (EFAC) held at Boji-Boji Agbor, Ika South Local Government Area of Delta State.
According to the Governor who attended the event accompanied by his wife, Dame Edith Okowa, “the Church and Christians must arise in the power of the Spirit and raise men and women of integrity and purpose who will tackle the many evils assailing us as a nation with godly, wisdom, spiritual discernment and bold action,
“The church is swimming against the tide, and in many places it has, unfortunately, capitulated and dancing to the tune of the world; here in our country, we have witnessed the ascendancy of syncretic religious messages and practices that have exalted sociological and psychology above theology,” the governor said.
He continued, “while the church may have grown in visibility, numbers and financial resources, we have, painfully, lost ground spirituality; the evidence is all around us – loss of the fear of God, lack of sense of right and wrong, alarming rate of divorce even in the church, and the proliferation of night clubs, lounges and other such lurid entertainment centres that stir up the spirit of sin.”
He congratulated the Anglican Church for the 40th anniversary of EFAC, asserting, “Evangelism remains the number one priority of the church.”Bro. Peter Ozodo had in a sermon, called for the proper preaching of the word of God by christians and urged the people to repent from their evil ways as “righteousness exalts a nation not money.”

Biafra activist, Isiani Ikenna Michael runs for dear life

PUBLISHED JUNE 6, 2014
BY EJIKE SAMSON

Its three years now since members of the Igbo secessionist group, Biafra Zionist Federation (BZM) failed in a reported attempt to take over Enugu Broadcasting Service Television House. Around 5:30 a.m. on June 5, 2014, youths of the group invaded the studio with a recorded Compact Disc which allegedly contained an announcement of the secession of the Biafran Nation. This was after the members of the movement were reported to have taken over the Enugu legislature earlier in March of that year.

They were said to have ordered the staff to allow them make a live broadcast. The broadcasters refused and alerted the police.

A police officer was sent to the location to contain the situation, but was shot and killed by members of the group who also lost one of their members who was killed by the police.

After arresting the members, Adamu Mohammed, the then Enugu State Commissioner of Police, told journalists the group had planned to set the station on fire and said they came with a Compact Disc to “make a live broadcast to Nigerians”.

Mohammed also claimed that a paper with written words by the group, stated they wanted the youths to “come out” and fight for their rights.

The police declared some of the members of the Benjamin Onwuka-led BZF wanted for their acts on that day.

One of the members of the BZF who are wanted by the police is Michael Ikenna Isiani. His father, Malachy Isiani, was a leading figure in the BZF and they both were at the radio house when police stormed the place to dislodge the group on that day. Ikenna and his Dad narrowly made an escape from the scene as a member of BZF group was being gunned down to death while a number of them were injured.

Ika News world gathered from a source that the ordeal did not end that day. “Following the ugly incident, policemen began a manhunt for the members of the BZF. Their leader as well as other members were arrested. Malachy Isiani was killed later that same day in mysterious circumstances by some military and police men who invaded his house.  Ikenna however, managed to evade the men as they were hell-bent on picking him up,” our source said.

Evading the police came with an added disastrous consequence for Ikenna. On that same day when some military and police  men stormed his Enugu residence where he was living with his family, including, his mother Mrs Grace Isiani and sister Glory Isiani, he mistakenly knocked down an old woman as he sped away from his gate on sighting gun-totting policemen who pointed their guns on him. The frail woman later died, leaving him facing a double trouble from the government and family members of the old woman.

Since that incident, the family of the woman has been making threats to kill Isiani and his family because they wouldn’t, for some reasons, believe her death was not premeditated.

Isiani has reportedly no were to be found, while his sister has also left Enugu for an unknown place.

“His fight was simply for the freedom of his people. He’s not a dangerous individual who would want to do anyone harm. Like others in BZF all he wanted was freedom for the Igbo people from the oppression that they are suffering in Nigeria. Now his family have paid a big prize for their struggle for Igbo freedom. He has lost his Dad and he is now were to be found.

The government see people like him as  threat, and the family of the dead woman are vowing a revenge,” our source said.

Ika News world sought to know why he didn’t give himself up and clear his name in court, because the movement "Biafra" don't always get proper trial added: “The state has already found them guilty and events over the years show they won’t get a fair trial.”

We are strong Christians. Belonging to any association should be base on one’s freewill as the constitution of our country, Nigeria guarantee freedom of association, religion and expression, what the Ogboni Fraternity is doing is a virulent attack on one of fundamental human rights.

Outrange in school: two homosexuals discovered making love

Abel Conscience

If you are in Nigeria, it is not an easy life. The law society, often friends and family will discriminate you. It is illegal to commit any same sex act in Nigeria since 1901. If you are prosecuted of homosexuality and found guilty, then you can face up to 14 years in prison. It was a bill signed into law by the previous president Good Luck Jonathan despite serious external pressure from west for same sex marriage or anti-gay bill to be stopped.
In the north of Nigeria under sharia law anyone found guilty of committing homosexual sexual acts can be stone to death.

Abel Conscience in the Hospital receiving treatment

This incidence which took place on the 23rd of March 2015, the assistant inspector general of police in charge of the zone, AIG Musa Daura who announced the arrest said the suspected homosexuals were arrested while acting on credible information.
He gave the names of the suspects as Orie Lucky &Abel Conscience according to him, he said two of the suspects were apprehended in the school, Ika Grammar School In Delta State, Ika North East of the Local Government.

The AIG claimed that the suspects have confessed to be homosexuals and have had sex with each other on several occasions able conscience was 17years while Lucky Orie was 19years according to the AIG. They were caught by their school teacher, both of them were roommates.
According to their school teacher who caught them in the act, he said they hardly come to school so he informed their parents who stay in the village. Their parents pleaded that the class teacher should find out while they don’t come to school. Their parents asked their school teacher to take them as his own younger brother, so because of that he visited them after some weeks that was the day he found them in that unholy act. So he reported them to us at the station, before the police came many people came to see what was happening, the principal the parents were also invited they were tortured seriously.

Orie Lucky in police Custody

At the station able Constance was under age so he was granted bail while Orie Lucky was locked up.
Since able was under age accordingly to the AIG we will hand him over to the community for further disciplinarian actions.
The unfortunate thing was the father of able conscience was the chief priest so he knows what follow next his son must be sacrifice to the Gods but able conscience was fortunate because a family friend told Ables mother about the community next move so he gave his son money to run to his uncles house in Kano, according to an eye witness who said that her name should not be mentioned.
Able was also caught in that act in France Road In Kano presently the Emire Of Kano the obi of Owa kingdom and the community are all looking for him, the uncle that call was not happy because of what able did.

According to one human rights activates at the scene who spoke to no strings, he said that the victims were beaten seriously by the mobs who claimed that they were homosexuals. He said they shown their no mercy at all. Even those that asked them to stop beating them was also mob that very day this is obviously not the 1st time that these kinds of things are happening in the country where suspected IGBT persons are trapped and severely beaten. The AIG made it clear that anybody that will give them information that will lead to the arrest of able conscience will be rewarded the Emire Of Kano, the Obi of Owa Kingdom, in Delta State, the community and different vigilante groups are all seriously looking for able conscience anybody with any useful information about him should inform any of the above body.
