OKOWA URGES CHRISTIANS TO BE BOLD IN TACKLING NIGERIA’S CHALLENGES IN DELTA STATE

Governor Senator Dr. Ifeanyi Okowa has challenged Christians to boldly challenge the problems bedeviling Nigeria as a nation. The Governor made the call at the national convention of Evangelical Fellowship in the Anglican Communion (EFAC) held at Boji-Boji Agbor, Ika South Local Government Area of Delta State.
According to the Governor who attended the event accompanied by his wife, Dame Edith Okowa, “the Church and Christians must arise in the power of the Spirit and raise men and women of integrity and purpose who will tackle the many evils assailing us as a nation with godly, wisdom, spiritual discernment and bold action,
“The church is swimming against the tide, and in many places it has, unfortunately, capitulated and dancing to the tune of the world; here in our country, we have witnessed the ascendancy of syncretic religious messages and practices that have exalted sociological and psychology above theology,” the governor said.
He continued, “while the church may have grown in visibility, numbers and financial resources, we have, painfully, lost ground spirituality; the evidence is all around us – loss of the fear of God, lack of sense of right and wrong, alarming rate of divorce even in the church, and the proliferation of night clubs, lounges and other such lurid entertainment centres that stir up the spirit of sin.”
He congratulated the Anglican Church for the 40th anniversary of EFAC, asserting, “Evangelism remains the number one priority of the church.”Bro. Peter Ozodo had in a sermon, called for the proper preaching of the word of God by christians and urged the people to repent from their evil ways as “righteousness exalts a nation not money.”
The Obi of Owa, HRM Emmanuel Efeizomor II, Bishops of different Diocese of Anglican Communion attended the ceremony.
