POLITICAL CRISIS: OMEYE JULIUS CHUKWUYEM ESCAPES DEATH
Mr. Omeye Julius Chukwuyem, a member of the All Progressive Congress, (APC) has escaped death, following his recent defection from his (APC) to the Labour Party.
Ika Weekly Newspaper Reporter as at the time of filing this report, learnt that Mr. Omeye Julius Chukwuyem was an active member of the All Progressive Congress, (APC) as far as the politics in Ika nation is concerned. Omeye Julius Chukwuyem and his mother, Mrs. Omeye Akpohoebo Regina were attacked by the alleged APC members on the 11th day of July, 2022.
Speaking with newsmen, shortly after he was discharged from the hospital, Mr. Omeye Julius Chukwuyem stated that himself and his mother were attacked by some members of his former political party, APC purposely because he decamped from APC for his own personal reasons and join the Labour Party.
He explained that they were at home in their residence at No. 20, Onyenukwu Street, Boji-Boji Owa, Delta State at about 7:00 am, when some people he knew very well in his former political party walked in unknown to them that they came with an evil intention.
He said before they knew what was going on, one of the boys just brought out a locally made gun and pulled the trigger on them.
He explained that his mother was rushed to the Central Hospital, Agbor with the injuries all over her body immediately, but unfortunately she died while receiving treatment. He said that he was abducted by the suspects and tied up in the forest for five days before he was rescued by some members of the Vigilante Group after exchanging bullets with them in the forest.
He further disclosed that he was taken to the same Central Hospital, Agbor for his treatment at about 12: pm by the Vigilante Group members after a couple of five days in the deep forest.
He said that his former party member have made several attempt to harm him, saying but to God be the glory, all his efforts to kill him were to no avail.
He noted that his mother's corpse was deposited in the Mortuary. He said that his shop in Boji-Boji Owa metropolis was destroyed by the same person from the APC.
Also at the time of filing this report, the case has been reported to the Police by the Medical Director, Central Hospital, Agbor.
Speaking in a brief interview with Ika Weekly Newspaper Reporter, the Divisional Police Officer at the Owa-Oyibu Police Divisional Headquarters, SP. Benjamin Oforbho, described the attacks on Omeye Julius Chukwuyem and his family as an unfortunate incident. He said the suspects are no where to be found as at the time his boys went for arrest.
He said the case is under proper investigations. He promised to fish out all those responsible for the death of Mrs. Omeye Akpohoebo Regina and the attack on her son, Julius.
The DPO therefore advised members of the public who have information as regard the whereabouts of the hoodlums to report to the nearby police station.
