PDP FEMALE CO-ORDINATOR, FOUR OTHERS DECLARED WANTED AS MASSIVE DEFECTION TO APC TURNS BLOODY

As the February 23 2019 General Elections in Nigeria approach, Ika nation in Delta State, had on several occasions, witnessed crisis amongst the existing political parties due to one reason or another so as to ensure a landslide victory on the side of their candidates.

      Few days ago, the female co-ordinator, Aiyamekhue Rita Ifeanyi and twenty five other members of the People's Democratic Party, (PDP) were declared wanted over a political crisis between an opposition party, the All Progressives Congress, (APC) which led to the death of eleven persons from the both parties.

     The youth leader of the All Progressives Congress, Mr. Monday Okafor and four other APC members were equally declared wanted by the Nigerian Government.

The wanted members of the People's Democratic Party, (PDP) include; Aiyamekhue Rita Ifeanyi, Female Co-ordinator, Kenneth Ajuebor, Secretary Ward 5, Franklin Okoh, Assistant Secretary and others.

    From the All Progressives Congress, (APC) the party's Youth Leader, Monday Okafor, Comr. Chuks Melekwe, Treasurer, Ward 5, Kingsley Ebonka, member and others were the people declared wanted.

       Speaking with Ika Weekly Newspaper Reporter as at the time of filing this report, mother of one of the victims of the crisis, Mrs. Helene Iwegbu, stated that his son, Michael Iwegbu was one time Secretary to the APC Ward 5. She noted that on that fateful day, Michael left home for a political meeting with his fellow youths.

      "According to her," Few hours after Michael left home for the political meeting, I received a destress call from one of the youths, Jonathan that my son is dead.

     " I am appealing to the Government to come to my aid by ensuring that the killers of my innocent child are brought to book.

      My son was hale and hearty before his untimely death occurred. I warned him not to join his colleagues in the fight with the PDP members but he wouldn't listen to my advice," she said.

       Also speaking during a brief interview with the newsmen, the  Divisional Police Officer, (DPO), Owa-Oyibu Police Divisional Headquarters, ASP. Monday Osayi, disclosed that the police will not rest until the arrests of Aiyamekhue Rita Ifeanyi, Female Co-ordinator, PDP and Mr. Monday Okafor, Youth Leader of APC and all their wanted colleagues are made.

      The PDP further stated that reactions for political defections have been attributed to political interest, the pursuit of political ambition, internal party division, lack of transparency in party processes, lack of political ideology and political agenda.

      He noted that ever since the inception of democracy in Nigeria, democracy has faced a series of challenges, from conflicts between parties to literacy and corruption, saying but a process where it results people killing one another, will be treated with strong hands.

      He therefore advised anyone with the information that can lead to the arrests of the wanted persons to report it to the nearby police station.

     He said that the leaders of the involved parties, Aiyamekhue Rita Ifeanyi and Monday Okofor will be arrested to face seven years imprisonment according to the Constitution whenever they are apprehended.

     Meanwhile, as at the time of filing this report, the corpse of the victims have been deposited in the Mortuary.
