Following the gruesome assassination of Chief Amionwan Osayande Chiyem, the head of Obi-Anyima Community, by unknown gunmen recently, which ignited violent protest by some irate youths of the community; the Nigeria Police Force has declared some of the identified youth leaders and their accomplices wanted, in connection with the wanton destruction of lives and properties in the community.
Investigation revealed, that with the deployment of materials, equipment and personnel to commence oil exploration, at the location where oil was discovered in the area, by the oil company who bought the land; haven paid the King of Abavo kingdom, Obi Uche Urenuma, who oversees all the communities in the kingdom, including Obi-Anyima.
According to an eye witness, who spoke to newsmen on the condition of anonymity, stated that the late Chief of the hitherto peaceful Obi-Anyima community, was murdered in cold blood by unknown assassins on his way back from a meeting that was convened by the King of Abavo kingdom, who requested for the late community head to come and collect their share of the money that was paid to them by the oil exploration company.

Continuing, the source stated that on hearing about the death of late Chief Amionwan Osayande Chiyem, some aggrieved youths in the community stormed the residence of one of the alleged suspected assassins who master minded the killing; according to them the man had been in dispute and rivalry with the late Chief before he ascended the leadership position as the most qualified person for the stool. The source disclosed that on getting to the residence of the alleged killer, the angry mob met his absence and apprehended one of his sons, whom they tortured to death as a reprisal attack. This ugly development it was gathered degenerated to mayhem, destruction of properties and the killing of late Mr. Monday Ehiwuogwu, the father of one of the aggrieved youths who partook in the protest, who goes by the name, Mr. Philip Ehiwuogwu. The corpse of late Mr. Monday Ehiwuogwu, was discovered in the bush, soaked with blood.
The source further revealed that when the news of the several destructions of lives and properties in Obi-Anyima community, got to the leadership of Abavo kingdom they immediately sent for men of the Nigeria Police Force, to repel the rampaging youths; this development, it was learnt, gave way for more bloodletting. However, upon arrival, the about 40 stern looking mobile policemen were able to bring the situation under control, after arresting some of the enraged youths; while the youth leaders and several other accomplice narrowly escaped through the whisker.
Continuing, the source revealed that the youths that are currently on the run were declared wanted by the Nigeria Police Force.
Some of the identified youths that escaped include; David Ogor, Emmanuel Okafor, Philip Ehiwuogwu, Kingsley Solomon, Ifeanyi Success, Nkem Divine, Lucky Ndubuisi and Nkeki Valentine.
In a brief remark, the leader of the Police team who quelled the ugly situation in the community, Assistant Superintendent of Police Celestine Kalu, who frowned over the nefarious activities of the youths whom he noted took laws into their hands, vowed that the Police Force will not relent until the youth leaders and their partners in crime are apprehended to face the full wrath of the law; the Police boss enjoined members of the public to come forward with any useful information that could lead to the arrest of the above named persons that are at large, emphasizing that a handsome reward awaits any person who provides useful information that may lead to their arrest.
It was later gathered that a man hunt was placed on the youth leaders of Obi-Anyima Community and their associates that are currently at large over the wanton destruction of lives and properties recorded in the community; as a result of which they have all fled from the community since the month of June 2012, and since then, none of them had been seen or heard of.
