Obi of Ute-Okpu Kingdom, His Royal Majesty, Obi Pastor Solomon Chukwuka I, has declared that the existing peace in the community marks a new dawn for the people.
Obi Chukwuka made the declaration during a chat with journalists on the occasion of his special thanksgiving service held on Sunday October 8, 2023. According to him, “On this special day, I am super happy because peace has return to Ute-Okpu. The thanksgiving coming after our New Yam festival is to thank God for the peace and unity of Ute-Okpu.
“It can only be God and I am returning all glory to Him for everything, especially for the existing peace. Indeed, it is a new dawn in Ute-Okpu and I want to charge my subjects to always seek God who has done it for us to do more.
“My promise on this day is to continue praying for the good health and progress of my subjects that affliction shall not arise a second time”, he prayed.
Earlier in his address, the monarch recalled that there was serious crisis in his kingdom following an outbreak of yellow fever epidemic in 2020 which sadly led to his temporary exit from the palace.
“Today, we are all gathered here to the glory of God. Peace has returned, and there is much progress in the land. God has not forgetten Ute Okpu in our developmental agenda. Our sons and daughters have done much to attract social amenities. People like Hon Chamberlain Dunkwu, Chief Godwin Ogadi, Peter Okpuzor, Barr Mrs. Victoria Anwuli Irabor née Okubor to mention a few, have done so much for Ute Okpu, a further reason we are gathered to thank God as a Kingdom and as a united happy people.

“Let me use this special occasion to particularly speak of a great philanthropist with an indefatigable patriotic spirit, Hon Hillary ObiomaIbegbulem.

It is, therefore, my wish today to honour him for his roles in human capital development, infrastructure and security development in this Kingdom, and for his continued substantial support and assistance to the palace.
“In the near future, honour will be done to other sons and daughters who, like Hilary, have contributed to the growth and development of Ute Okpu kingdom.
“It is my desire, therefore, and directive to Ute Okpu Development Union to effect the naming of the Ute Owerre Ute Elugu road after this illustrious son of Ute Okpu kingdom. This road therefore shall henceforth be known and called Dr Hilary ObiomaIbegbulem Road.
He concluded by thanking his subjects and all who were present for coming to share in the joy of the thanksgiving service.
Speaking also, the President-General, Ute Okpu Development Union (UDU), Dr. Festus Okubor said there is joy in his heart, thanking God for His mercy for allowing Ute-Okpu people to overcome.
