OGBONI FRATERNITY SUCCESSION SCANDAL: ONE DIES, ANOTHER FLEES

OGBONI FRATERNITY SUCCESSION SCANDAL: ONE DIES, ANOTHER FLEES

The quest for a replacement of Mr. Frederick Ifeanyi’s position as the Second in Command of Ogboni Fraternity has led to the death of his son, Kingsley Ifeanyi as the elder son whose name was given as Harrison Ifeanyi has taken to his heels to an unknown destination.

Harrison Ifeanyi

Following the death and burial of Mr. Frederick Ifeanyi, who hails from Idumuesah in Ika North East Local Government Area of Delta State on the 4 of April, 2016, the Ogboni Fraternity whose Headquarters is located at Agbor-Obi, Ika South LGA of Delta State has not seized to trouble the family of their late member over his replacement in the fraternity as the once peaceful family has now been in chaos and disarray, investigations reveal.

According to a reliable source, it was gathered that according to the culture of the fraternity, a ranking member of the secret cult upon his demise, is supposed to bring any of his sons into the brotherhood to succeed him and if possible, initiate the would-be successor into the brotherhood before their demise, revealing that the aim was to keep up their numerical strength, save the brotherhood from going into extinction and also sustain the legacy of the deceased member upon their demise.

                          Mr. Frederick Ifeanyi

It was discovered that contrary to this, Mr. Ifeanyi failed to provide a successor while alive as his elder son, Harrison Ifeanyi who was supposed to succeed him declined on the ground that he was a Christian and would want to serve God in heaven through His son, Jesus Christ and not to soil his hands with the evils which the members of the brotherhood are involved such as; killing, possession of evil powers and rituals.

It was revealed that he had on several occasions, described the brotherhood as ‘darkness and satanic,’ saying that there is no connection between light and darkness and he would not want to belong to group or association that will truncate his relationship with God.

However, upon the burial of his father, late Mr. Frederick Ifeanyi, a delegation of the brotherhood while on a condolence visit, reiterated their stand over the replacement of their father and the impending danger if their late member’s first son refused joining them as their father’s replacement.

It was further gathered that after much persuasions and warnings from the fraternity, the deceased’s second son died while the second son, Harrison took to his heels as he feared that the mishap was a signal that they might come for him next.

In a phone chat with the Media and Public Relations Officer of the Ogboni Fraternity, Mr. Raphael Unozie, he stated that the law binds every member of the brotherhood to provide a successor to the brotherhood so as to replace them upon their demise as failure to do so amounts to chaos, saying that there is nothing any one can do about it.

He noted that providing a successor is an irrevocable order of the brotherhood.

He further noted that the calamity faced by the family of their late member, Mr. Frederick Ifeanyi was as a result of failure to obey the brotherhood’s order which is binding to all, saying that running will not save them as more catastrophe looms if they do not obey the order of the brotherhood.

However, an attempt to reach the widow of the deceased proved abortive, saying that she was not in the right frame of mind to grant any interview.

As at the time of filing this report, the whereabouts of Ifeanyi Harrison is yet to be ascertained.

IPOB CRISIS: KINGSLEY UWABOR DECLARED WANTED

A resident of  Ebeniuwa Street, off Innebisi Road, Asaba Delta State, Mr. Kingsley Uwabor was on the 2nd, July 2018, declared wanted by the Delta State Police Commissioner, CP. Muhammad Mustafa over his alleged involvement in the activities of the Indigenous People Of Biafra (IPOB).

Ika Weekly Newspaper Correspondent while gathering this report, learnt that the wanted person, Kingsley is an active member of the IPOB, a very strong socio-cultural and political group operating in the South East of Nigeria, advocating the secession from the federation of Nigeria. The group had expressed strong terms through protests and other forms of peaceful aggitations of their desire and wishes which is to restore and structure the Nation. It is an autonomous and sovereign Nation governed independendly by the indigenous citizens of the six States of Biafra.

It was also gathered that the Nigeria Government perceiving the Biafran Protesters and their activities as subversive and dangerous to the peaceful and unitd existence of the country, has been carrying out strong measures of reprisal against them. The federal Government took very drastic and immediate steps, outlawing even when it was manifestly clear and plain to the eyes of the people and press of Nigeria that the group never indulged in any acts of terrorism against the Nation, but were using peaceful and nonviolent means to advocate its demands.

Newsmen also confirmed that the federal Government used law enforcement agents such as officers of the Nigeria Police Force and Soldiers to clamp down the alleged IPOB members and their supporters, killing some members the group and committing others to various jail terms with inhuman conditions.

Speaking with Newsmen, the Delta State Police Command's Public Relations Officer, CSP. Onome Onovwakpoyeya described the activities of the IPOB members in the country as disastrous,  stressing that the wanted persons, such as Mr. Kingsley Uwabor, Mr. Peters Moses and others must face the wrath of the law if apprehended so as  to be used as deterrent to others who take laws into hands.

He  noted that the  protest first took place on the 10th of January, 2018 along the Head Bridge in Asaba, the Capital of Delta State where most of the protesters including Kingsley were arrested and taken to Police Custody for more investigation. He said that Kingsley and his friend, Peters were  arrested alongside other protesters,  noting that they have all been on detention since their arrest on that fateful day in January 2018 before Kingsley and Peters got to escape from the Police Station on the said date in the month of July, 2018.

He therefore charged anyone with useful information that can lead to the arrest of Kingsley and other wanted persons to report immediately to any nearby Police Stations.
