Oil crisis:Nnamdi Andrew Goodluck Nze,others declared wanted
Posted: February 23, 2016

Federal Government of Nigeria has declared a notorious Niger Delta militant, Nnamdi Andrew Goodluck Nze, popularly known as,Buju wanted  over a recent violence in the oil rich but volatile area.

Our reporters gathered that Buju who hails from  Aniocha North Local Government  in the Niger Delta area of Nigeria was  one of the trusted aides of the embattled famous leader of the Niger Delta militants,Chief Government Ekpemupolo, also known as Tompolo.Tompolo in his quest to help address the continued marginalization of his people even though they produced 95% of Nigeria's revenue by the Federal Government engaged in high level bunkering and vandalization of oil installations, including the kidnap and killing of expertriates. He was early this year,2016 declared wanted by the Federal Government of Nigeria for putting a clog in the wheel of Nigeria's economy.
However, trouble started for young and energetic Nnamdi Andrew Goodluck Nze,also known as,Buju  after a search report discovered that he was the one housing the dreaded and most wanted militant,Tompolo. In fact it was disclosed that Buju aided and facilitated the escape of his Boss,Tompolo from the grip of the Federal Government.Unfortunately for the government Buju also escaped before the police could reach him.
It could be recalled that between January and February this year(2016)oil companies in Nigeria and the country's economy have not witnessed any growth due to the violent activities of militants in the area.Buju,a Peoples Democratic Party,PDP youth leader in Aniocha North happened to be one of the most reliable boys of Tompolo.Government has therefore declared Buju wanted to help in fishing out his Boss,Tompolo from his hide out.
As at the time of filling this report government has placed a handsome reward for anyone who will provide good information on the whereabouts of Tompolo and Buju. The two militants will face serious jail terms if arrested.

DELTA STATE TRAFFIC MANAGEMENT AUTHORITY NOW IN AGBOR

DELTA STATE TRAFFIC MANAGEMENT AUTHORITY NOW IN AGBOR

People have asked who these people wearing blue, standing on our roads and junctions are. Road Safety we know, Police we know, we are even familiar with NURTW and Vehicle Inspector Officer, but who are these ones? They are officials of Delta State Traffic Management Authority (DESTMA). The law establishing DESTMA was passed by the Delta State House of Assembly (DTSHA) on 24th October 2013 and it started operation on 14th April 2016.
In an interview with the Director-General of DESTMA Agbor office, Steven Dieseruvwue, he disclosed that the law stipulates their operations in seven zones but for two years, they ran a pilot scheme in four zones; Asaba, Ughelli, Effurun, Warri and with the new recruitment recently, it expanded her operations to three more zones including Agbor, Udu and Sapele.
According to the D-G, after DESTMA was launched on the 14th of April, 2016, it started an 8 days training for people co-opted into DESTMA from the ministry as displaced staff and employed them back into the Civil Service. For this recent recruitment, which lasted from June 2018 to February 2019, we had an open application across the state and people applied. There were three segments to the recruitment: we had an aptitude test, physical interview and a camping that took place between January 23 to February 8th 2019. He also disclosed that over 1800 applications were received and over 400 had been recruited.

Also speaking to Ika Weekly reporter was the Zonal Head of DESTMA, Agbor, Mr. Paul Adigwe, who said DESTMA in Agbor would work hand in hand with other stakeholders to ensure an accident free road so that motorists and pedestrians enjoy road usage. He emphasized that his men had been strictly instructed to be civil in their approach to road users and as well be strict in carrying out their legally binding duties. He further urged road users to always obey road signals and instructions and to avoid going against traffic.
The Head of Operations, Mr. Smart Ngozi added that there will be some sensitization and familiarity tour very soon when the Director General gives the directives. He thanked all road users in Ika land for their co-operation so far.
Some residents spoke to Ika Weekly reporter on the Presence of DESTMA, Rev Ashien Jude living in Osa Street said, “I love what they are doing, they help to maintain traffic, since their arrival, there has so far not been issues of extortion, they would tell you to reverse when you are on the wrong track and not negotiate with you unlike the previous order”.
“I would say Okowa has done well because since they came, there has been less traffic and fewer accidents. Previously the Local Governments had a traffic task force, but I feel this once are better as they have been civil in their mode of operations and manner of approach. In a civilized society every ministry should be up and doing, I want to say that the ministry of transport should endeavour to provide DESTMA with the necessary traffic and road facilities that they would require for effectiveness. I have noticed that the traffic light at college junction does not work the concerned authority should do the needful should do the needful”.  Mr. Ogah Edmond living in Orikeze said.
We love them, they are doing very well, and they focus on their job and talk to people maturely, Mrs. Adaora Monye living in Baleke.

Chukwudi Eric Declared Wanted

Published: anuary 28, 2016
Breaking

A fire brand youth leader and P.R.O, Abavo Youths Union, Mr. Chukwudi Eric has been declared wanted by the police for allegedly stirring up public unrest and revolting against constituted authority in Abavo kingdom, Ika South Local Government Area of Delta State.

In a statement released by the Divisional Police Public Relations Officer of the Abavo Divisional Headquarters, Assistant Superintendent Marvelous Okeke on Thursday stated that Mr. Chukwudi spearheaded a series of protests and violent riots against the Abavo Monarch H.R.M Uche Irenuma II which resulted in the destruction and loss of properties worth millions of naira.
It was also alleged that Mr. Chukwudi was actively involved and coordinated the agitations for seccesion by the group known as the Independent People of Biafra (IPOB) in Delta and some other Eastern states of the country, which led to violent clashes with armed security personnel, leaving death and chaos in their wake.
In the words of the Police Public Relations Officer, “we are all out and leaving no stone unturned to ensure that Chukwudi Eric and other of his collaborators are apprehended and made to face the full wrath of the law.”
He enjoined the general public to come forward with any useful information/tip-off that may lead to the arrest of Chukwudi and his cohorts.
He finally charged the youths of Abavo and all other aggrieved party to shun violence and be law abiding in order to forestall future clashes and uprisings in the community.
In a bid to balance the report, one of the youths of Abavo, who pleaded anonymity was interviewed by one of our reporters and he gave a rather contrary version of the entire saga.
He stated that the issue started in 2014 when the youths and people of Abavo Kingdom rose against the Abavo Monarch HRM Uche Irenuma II mandating him to abdicate the throne due to his renowned cruelty and illegitimate rise to the ancient throne of Abavo Kingdom.
“As an outspoken youth leader, Chukwudi Eric was at the forefront of the struggle to force the monarch to relinquish power due to his draconian tendencies and majorly for the fact that he ascended the throne illegitimately.
“A lot of people lost their lives with their properties destroyed as the estranged monarch left nothing to chance in ensuring that the clung on to power.
“However, at that time, the 2015 general elections was close at hand, and as such, politicians and prominent sons and daughters of Abavo tried to broker peace between us and the Obi (Monarch) in order for us (Abavo) to work in one accord to deliver the gubernatorial candidate of the PDP and present governor of Delta State, Senator Dr. Ifeanyi Arthur Okowa. We sheathed our swords and worked assiduously to deliver Dr. Okowa and were promised to be rewarded handsomely for our role upon his emergence to power.
“But upon assumption of office, nothing was done to empower the youths of Abavo. Some of us as a result of this, were willing tools to be used by the IPOB agitators which was masterminded by politicians and interest groups. Many of us lost our lives as the military were very ruthless in quashing our secessionist agitation.
“As a result of this, Chukwudi Eric our P.R.O rose up and demanded that these politicians give to us all that was promised, else he would go public with their involvement in the entire crisis. They fought back and used the state apparatus to trump up false allegations on him, sent hired assassin (thugs) after him and consequently an arrest warrant was issued on him for disruption of public peace, electoral rigging and secessionist agitations,” he said.
It was also gathered that a man hunt was put upon Mr. Chukwudi, as a result of which he fled Abavo Kingdom in December 2015 and has since not been seen or heard from.

MR. OSANYEDE NEWTHING ESCAPED DEATH.
By Gabriel Mokobia
Following the gruesome assassination of Chief Amenaghawon Osanyede Uti Chinyem, the Eleme of Obi-Anyima community, in 2011; no fewer than forty stern looking mobile policemen and Anti-Terrorist squad were drafted to the community, which is in Ika South Local Government Area of Delta State.
According to the Olotu-Uku of Ogbe-Obi in Obi-Anyima clan, Mr. Gibert Omeleze, the late Eleme of Obi-Anyima was killed by unknown assassins, he disclosed that the  younger brother of the late Chief have not been in good relationship with him but had been fermenting troubles with his senior brother, even before he was made the Eleme of the community.
He further revealed that the deceased went through several court cases before he was installed the Eleme of the community in 2009, and since then his younger brother (Name withheld) has never made things easy for him, because he was also interested in taking over the stool from the late Chief.
Continuing he revealed that some aggrieved parties in the community after a failed reconciliatory meeting by the Obi of Abavo, few years ago, were again summoned by the monarch to decide who would be the youth leader and Secretary General of the community, including other issues to be discussed; saying that on his way back from the meeting, between Obi-Anyima and the next village,  by the railway line; it was gathered that the late Chief and his secretary were accosted by three unknown youths who ordered them to get down from the motorcycle they were riding on, they ordered the Secretary to lie face down, while one of the youths opened fire on the Eleme of Obi-Anyima; and  shot him at close range several times, leading to his death. The Secretary who was spared by the  unknown gun men, was said to have reported the matter to the community.
According to an eye witness who spoke on condition of anonymity, some persons who knew the Chief very well, hid themselves on the over head bridge, they were the persons who alerted the hired assassins and also identified the late Chief. The source also disclosed that while some persons who came for the meeting were still in the palace of the monarch of Abavo kingdom, news came to them that the Eleme of Obi-Anyima, had been shot dead on his way home by some  unknown persons. Four of the Chiefs from the village, including the younger brother of the Eleme, were immediately arrested by the police in Abavo, as suspects, following their strained relationship with the late Chief when he was alive. They were later taken to Asaba the state capital for interrogation and investigations on the matter.
In a related development, a family source who spoke to newsmen on condition of anonymity stated that the eldest son of the late Eleme of Obi-Anyima, by name Mr. Osanyede Newthing, had a narrow escaped from death, after being attacked with cutlasses and harmer, by three strange men at his family compound, few years after his late father was assassinated.

Female genital mutilation:Ekpenisi family decries community threat, laments over missing daughter

Posted June 20, 2018
by Agholor Godswill

All is not well at the moment with the family of Mr George Ekpenisi of Agbor, headquarters of Ika South Local Government Area of Delta State over the continued disappearance of their first child and daughter,Gabriella George Ekpenisi.

Trouble started after the birth of Gabriella George on June 23,2011.      Agbor Community where the Ekpenisi family hails from vowed to fulfil her age long tradition of female genital mutilation ,particularly on any first girl in a family(Ada).
According to reports,Gabriella George Ekpenisi was born in Lagos before she was brought to Agbor. Her family since then has not known peace following  continued threats from the Agbor Community that she must be circumcised traditionally even when there is a global campaign against female genital mutilation.
Our reporters reliably gathered that in a bid to secure the life of little Gabriella George she was taken to her maternal parents home at Owerre-Olubor in Ika North East Local Government Area of the state,a few kilometers from Agbor.Unfortunately, that never deterred the Agbor Community as it continued with the threat on Gabriella George, saying that she must be circumcized either death or life.

However, attempts to secure the life of Gabriella George from the crude and painful traditional female genital mutilation process our reporters gathered were abortive. The issue escallates when a revered and respected Ika traditional chief and grand dad of Gabriella George,Chief Anthony Ojogbo who before now granted her assylum at Owerre-Olubor died on July 7,2018.The death of Chief Ojogbo was said to have  given opportunity to the Agbor Community to heighten her agitation for  the circumsion of all female children of Agbor origin particularly, the first born female child of the family.
The last straw that broke the carmel's bag was the continued disappearance of Gabriella George from Owerre-Olubor.
A member of the Ekpenisi family who spoke on the ground of anonimity said that his family at the moment are  facing a turbulent period as a result of the sudden disappearance of their girl. While frowing at the attitude of Agbor Community on female genital mutilation,he called on relevant government authorities to help find their child,Gabriella George by taking a prompt action that will lead to the whereabout of the missing girl.
It should be noted that the fight against female genital mutiltion has not been effective in Nigeria as various communities in the country have continued in the fetish practice.
