When Jackson Roberson was interview by the press about his views and believe of the African Tradition of worshiping the gods of his village and father he said he cannot worship, he continue by saying that he cannot and will not fellow his father footsteps because he is a dedicated Christian. Because of this his father has tried him countless times to inmates him into worshiping idols. Being the only son it is the tradition for his father to indicate his only son to succeed him when he is gone. He said he is not comfortable with the practice so he refused to take part in the practice. following his words
Jackson Roberson said that failure to follow his father line of worship and succeed him it mean a life time problem to him. According to him he said "My Father maltreated me always including my mother and only sister", they made life more miserable for me, I did not enjoy my parents love for a day, most times I slept outside, no food even when am sick, they did not take care of me, telling me the Gods I refuse to serve has made me sick that if care is not taking that i must die unless i comply with them. continuing he said
One of the chief in the village that took me as his son told me of my fathers plan, to charm me so that I will not have any choice that to serve the Ayelala Shrine, after few days my father died  as he slept without waking up.
From that day, I ran away from my village, I had never knew peace all this while, after  the burial rites of his father, mr Jackson Roberson said that he was informed by the village chiefs that the gods has choosing him to serve in the shrine as the next chief priest for life, that if he refused to serve as the priest in the shrine he will be banished from the village.
Further to his explanation, Mr Jackson Roberson said that they also informed him that failure to comply to this that the constituency is a dealt penalty.
He further said that he was lucky as one of his uncle took him out of village in the mid night and took him to Nasarawa State, in the norther part of Nigeria, were he joined him (his uncle) in the cattle business.
After the Elders sent people to look for him, he decided to run away for his life as he is not ready to comply with such superstitious believe. on the 22nd January, 2015 he was surprise when he saw two Elders from his Village who came to take him back to the village where he came from, listing to him, he said from that day on I decided to run away because if they succeed to take him  and he fail to worship the Ayelala he will be killed.
when he was asked by the press why he did not report the matter to the police  he said that most of the police officer's also come there for spiritual powers that is why he felt that they cannot protect him. is unbelievable though not surprising that such thing is been practice in Africa today.
