 NIGERIA POLICE DECLARES ESHILAMA NELSON WANTED FOR SUSPECTED INVOLVEMENT IN HOMOSEXUALITY.



Men of the Nigerian Police Force have declared Mr. Eshilama Nelson, an indigene of Benue State wanted for violating the country’s anti-gay law due to his alleged involvement in the act.


In a media statement, the police claimed that Nelson was wanted for engaging in an act deemed to be against Nigeria’s extant laws.


The statement urged anyone with useful information that could lead to his arrest to report to the nearest station.


Attempted same-sex marriages have also been criminalized in Nigeria since 2014. The maximum punishment in the 12 northern states that have adopted Shari’a law is death by stoning. That law applies  to those who have voluntarily consented to the application of Shari’a courts. In southern Nigeria and under the secular criminal laws of  Nigeria, the maximum punishment for same-sex sexual activity is 14 years imprisonment.


According to the 2007 Pew Global Attitudes Project, 97% of Nigerian residents believe that homosexuality is a way of life that society should not accept, which was the second-highest rate of non-acceptance in the 45 countries surveyed.

 It was another day of mayhem as terrorists attacked Boaguwa, Kumakua Council Ward of Kwande local government Area of Benue State, claiming over nineteen more lives, causing many residents to flee to the nearest community, called Jato, popularly known as, "The Town of Safety for the safety of their lives.

       Ika Weekly Newspaper Correspondent confirmed that those who lost their lives during the attacks include; Aisha Balam, Sunday Onyeagwu and his two sons, John and Christian. Others are Isah Muhammad, Ali Khan, Moses Macaulay, Collins Bello Ali and many others.



 It was gathered from an eye witness that after that fateful 18th of February, 2025 Mr. Sunday Onyeagwu, his two children and eleven others were attacked, tide up, laid down and shut dead by some unknown gunmen. The incident occured near their homes.



         Speaking with newsmen, the President General of Mzuogh U Tiv, Worldwide and Leader of Benue's three major Sociocultural groups-Mzough U. Tiv, Ochi-Idoma and OM Ngede, a Retired Controller of Prison, Lorbee Ihagh, who hails from the local government area, said he has confirmed the attacks and the killings of the victims by the terrorists.




       He expressed concerned over the ugly situations in Kwande and other local government areas of Benue State and encouraged the bereaved to take hearts over the demises of their family members. He said "I was informed that over 19 farmers and residents of Kwande local government area were killed at different locations and the  bodies of some of the victims were thrown into River Catsina Ala. 

       "As it is today, a lot of people have fled to Jato, I doubt if Jato will be free for them to stay. 

       As at the time of filing this report, efforts to reach the Benue State officers and the security agents were unsuccessful.
