Mother of Six Brutally Murdered in Owerre-Olubor Community
Tragedy struck Owerre-Olubor Community in Ika North-East Local Government Area of Delta State on July 28, 2025, following the brutal murder of Mrs. Maleze Norah Adankwor, a mother of six, by unknown assailants.
The incident occurred at her residence in Umunofo Quarters, where she was reportedly alone at the time of the attack.
Speaking with Ika Weekly Newspaper, her son, Mr. Maleze Christian, said that his mother was discovered lifeless in a pool of blood after family members became concerned when they could not reach her for over 24 hours.
“We tried calling her several times without success. When we came to the house and forced the door open, we found her dead inside,” he said.
According to him, the attackers allegedly gained access to the house, murdered her, and locked the door from outside before fleeing the scene.
Mr. Christian appealed to security agencies in Delta State to urgently investigate the incident and bring the perpetrators to justice.
“My mother was peaceful and had no known enemies. We are begging the police to help us find those responsible,” he added.
An elder of the Owerre-Olubor Community, Mr. Collins Okoh, described the killing as unprecedented in the area.
“This kind of violence is strange to our community. We urge the police to conduct a thorough investigation so that justice can be served,” he stated.
Community members expressed shock and fear over the incident, describing Mrs. Adankwor as a kind and compassionate woman who was known for helping vulnerable individuals.
As of the time of filing this report, officers of the Nigeria Police Force were at the scene conducting investigations. The body of the deceased has been deposited at the mortuary pending autopsy and further inquiries.
