IJEOMA MELODY UWERU NARROWLY ESCAPE DEATH

Two years after, the family of the late Mr. Uweru Tomsonic Igbon of Abavo in Ika South Local Government Area has recorded another attack by unknown gunmen where his first son, Ijeoma Melody Uweru who was said to have been brutally tortured narrowly escaped death.

A family source of Uweru who claim anonymity for the safety of life told Ika Weekly reporter that the first attack in April 2020 claimed the life of the late Mr. Uweru Tomsonic Igbon through gunshot, an incident that made his family members live in fear.

“It all started over a communal land dispute in 2020  between our Ekwuoma Community and Ekwueze Community both in Abavo Kingdom, Ika South Local Government Area of Delta. The said land tussle claimed the life of our brother and father, Mr. Uweru Tomsonic Igbon, the Ekwuoma Community Chairman because he stood for justice over his refusal to collect bribes from the influential and deadly political sons of Ekwueze Community who wanted to buy his conscience.

“After the funeral of late Mr. Uweru Tomsonic Igbon, his children fled for dear lives to an unknown destination only to return two years after to face another attack which led to his first son, Ijeoma Melody Uweru being stabbed in the stomach region coupled with severe injuries sustained on May 20, 2022.

“Ijeoma Melody Uweru narrowly escaped death and we hope he recovers completely from the attack.

“The second attack has kept us worried over the safety of the children of Mr. Uweru Tomsonic Igbon because one of the daughters who was also in the house during the attack was given the beating of her life but she also narrowly survived it”.

Continuing, the Uweru family source said their worry remains because the police in Abavo Police Division and Agbor Police Divisional Headquarters are not doing anything to arrest the situation since the attacks have political undercurrents.

At the time of filing this report, Ijeoma Melody Uweru was said to be in an undisclosed hospital receiving medical attention.
